Senior Account Broker appointed by Watkin Davies Insurance Consultants

Watkin Davies Insurance Consultants has started the New Year off with the appointment of a Senior Account Broker.

The appointment comes as the company continues to focus on its growth and development strategy across a number of sectors, including Sports & Leisure, Mid-Market and Corporate business and comes at a time where there is additional expertise required in navigating through a hardening market.

Following a series of both internal and external interviews, Darren Sweeney was the successful applicant with the Company able to promote from within its existing workforce.  Darren has worked with Watkin Davies since 2016 and over this time has developed his skills and knowledge across a number of classes of Insurance as well as being heavily involved with a number of large and complex clients within the company.  

The role will see Darren move away from the responsibilities of a traditional Account Handler and into a technical position, no longer aligned to one Exec, but working with a number of Execs within the Company, to provide support and assistance to key accounts across both new and existing business

Sales & Development Director, Daniel Abbott said; ‘We have always had ambitious growth plans and it is great to be able to promote from within.  This appointment will bolster our plans and allow us to continue to focus on developing across a key number of areas whilst providing a consistent high level of service.’

The position became available as part of a series of key appointments planned for 2021, with a replacement Account Handler to take over from Darren and plans to add a new Development Executive both in the first quarter of the year.  

Darren said; ‘I am really excited to take on this opportunity and it is great to be able to play an integral part in the growth plans of the company. The position gives me an opportunity to further enhance my skills whilst continuing to provide a high level of service to a diverse portfolio of large/complex and key clients.’
