Last week, Sheena Thomson Consulting launched its monthly Flag It Up newsletter to share views, news, and events that are of interest to anyone who has responsibility for, or has a leading part in, risk, issues, and crisis.

Risk management, crisis management, and crisis communications are often seen as stand-alone disciplines in all sectors in which they are practised. Through the experience of founder Sheena Thomson and associate Mark Harris, Flag It Up analyses and assesses the interconnectivity between these disciplines through examining news, opinions, and publications each month.

Sheena Thomson explains:

“We often experience silo approaches in organisations. In risk, crisis management, and communications, as all three are interdependent it is crucial to have a joined-up approach to achieve a successful outcome in a crisis.

“The aim of the newsletter is to develop an open forum; encourage greater discussion and understanding of these disciplines through real-time news and examples; and highlight news and events we believe will be of interest.  Flag It Up is relevant to the insurance sector as the relationship between risk mitigation, good crisis management, and the benefit of this in mitigating losses can sometimes be misunderstood or is seldom discussed.”

Flag It Up has been created following the launch last year of CrisisFit®, a personal development programme for corporate leaders with a focus on risk and crisis leadership.
