Lockton is expanding its Global Construction Practice (GCP) with the appointment of several new senior hires dedicated to providing client sector expertise and construction project support across international markets, as part of further expanding its UK Contractors Practice Group.

James Cook, Deputy International Practice Leader, Steve Leeming, Senior Vice President, International Construction, and Lewis Coward, Head of Placement, Global Construction Practice, have been brought in to work with international clients and major global projects from Lockton’s London based GCP team.

Cook, Coward and Leeming join from Marsh, where they all currently hold Senior Vice President (SVP) roles. Coward will join Lockton in June, followed by Cook and Leeming who will start in September this year.

Richard Owen, Head of Lockton Global Real Estate & Construction commented, “The arrival of James, Steve and Lewis adds significant additional expertise and experience to an already high calibre team. As one the largest specialty construction practices in the London market, our team of dedicated construction insurance practitioners are managing some of the biggest and most complex construction, engineering, civil and infrastructure projects across the globe. The expanded team bolsters our offering as an uncompromised alternative proposition to the global construction industry.”

The opportunity to continue growing Lockton’s footprint in the UK and European Contractor market is a key focus for the Global Construction Practice, and will draw together expertise from across the LLP, including Lockton’s Professions, Risk and Employee Benefits practices.  This further builds on Lockton’s already market leading position of specialist broking services for project owners and developers.

Lockton’s growth in the sector is further supported by the appointment of Libby Snow as Vice President UK and Europe Project Team, who will be instrumental in driving the development strategy in the European market.  Snow joins in July from Gallagher’s UK Construction team.

David Hayhow, Head of Lockton’s Global Construction Practice said, “This next phase for our business will be to continue our close collaboration with our international Lockton offices and global partners to achieve growth and attract the most talented construction specialists into the GCP. Our independent ownership and our global brand makes us uniquely placed to building lasting relationships with our clients and become the market leading speciality broker in the Global Construction space.”

This investment highlights Lockton’s appetite for rapid and sustainable practice growth, and marks the next phase of the evolution of GCP into a market leading specialist broking practice. There are a number of other developments in train for this year, including the creation of a Surety Practice, set to drive further opportunities for new Surety business in the Construction and Real Estate sectors.
