Lonmar Global Risks has appointed insurance industry veteran Robin Lucas to the Board. He will be a non-executive director at the broker, which is part of Global Risk Partners (GRP).

Robin Lucas has had a glittering career in the insurance industry, most notably at the helm of broker Lucas Fettes and Partners, which he founded in 1980 and eventually sold to Stackhouse Poland in 2018.

He began his career as a Lloyd’s Broker in 1970 at Cooper Gay before moving to Ropner, which is now part of Lonmar.

Commenting on the appointment, David Pexton, Lonmar CEO, said: “Robin is a genuine heavy hitter whose contacts, experience and strategic nous will be of huge value to Lonmar as we continue to grow our market presence.”

“I’m especially pleased that after working at our sister company Ropner much earlier in his career, he is returning to the fold, though with a very different brief to his responsibilities in the 1970s, and of course in a very different London market.”

Robin Lucas said: “I am a great admirer of Lonmar under the leadership of David Pexton and I’m looking forward to helping in any way that I can to achieve their long term strategic ambitions.”

“It is an interesting time to be in London market broking; brokers have many headwinds to face into, but Lonmar is well-placed to emerge as one of the winners during the next few years and I’m thoroughly looking forward to my new role.”

Robin adds Lonmar to his other NED roles, at Reside Property Holdings and as chairman of Lucas Fettes Financial Services.

The appointment is subject to regulatory approval and he will begin his new role during the next couple of weeks.
