Yorkshire-based independent insurance broker, McClarrons, are pleased to announce that longstanding team member, Garry Davies, took on the role of Managing Director from 1 February 2022 in a company restructure.

Having worked at the company for the past 14 years, joining as an Office Junior from school, Garry has worked in a number of positions within the company. Within his first year, Garry started an Account Handling role in Personal Lines and soon moved into McClarrons’ Commercial Team. Here, he progressed to an Account Executive, building his Commercial account from scratch as well as developing his technical expertise and knowledge of the wider industry. After nearly 8 years as an Account Executive, Garry took on the role of Sales Manager in 2015, building a sales team across the brokerage’s core sectors – Commercial, Rural, Private Clients and Care & Social Welfare.

As McClarrons continued to grow, the structure of the business also evolved and for the last 4 years Garry has continued to gain invaluable industry experience and expertise as Sales Director; with this, in addition to his leadership qualities, knowledge of the business, the insurance market and McClarrons’ niche sectors, he is well placed to be now taking on the role of Managing Director.

Garry commented: “Having been given the opportunity to work across most areas of the business as we have grown and overcome various industry challenges, I am very proud to now be taking on the role of Managing Director and look forward to leading the business into the next chapter. As an independent broker, we benefit from being in control of our own destiny – something that is very important to us, and with the fantastic team we have built, I feel we are in great position to achieve our long-term goals. It’s a really exciting time for McClarrons.”

The company also recently welcomed a new Group Finance & Operations Director, Philippa Farthing, from The Ardonagh Group, as well as creating a new role – Head of Claims – which has been taken on by Alastair Morley, former Senior Solicitor in Hiscox’s claims team.

McClarrons’ continued growth and investment in its people, their training and development, as well as the niche sectors they operate in, illustrates their continued dedication to best serve their clients.

With these changes, former Managing Director, Sean McClarron, takes on the role of Executive Chairman. Sean will continue to work closely with Garry and Philippa to map and assist the company in achieving its goals and maintaining the business’s core values.
