Aon leads the way in introducing enhanced shared parental pay for all employees

Aon has introduced enhanced pay for shared parental leave for all its employees ensuring that all parents can receive enhanced pay for shared parental leave in a similar way to enhanced maternity pay.

A new law came into effect on 1 December 2014, which entitles couples living in mainland Britain to divide almost all of the traditional maternity leave entitlement between them. The right also applies to those adopting a child. This is known as Shared Parental Leave and applies to parents whose babies have a due date of 5 April 2015 or later, or to parents who adopt on or after 5 April.

Colette Nolan, HR Director, Aon UK Ltd, said “We are committed to supporting our employees and promoting work life balance, parents at Aon can take shared parental leave if they so wish and are pleased to be leading the industry in announcing that we have introduced enhanced shared parental pay.  While there’s no legislative requirement for us to enhance shared parental pay, it was important to provide this benefit for all our employees.  This is a great step forward for inclusion and equality, both in terms of gender and sexual orientation and supporting colleagues’ individual circumstances with a flexible approach to work wherever possible.
