The Insurance Charities gives vital financial and practical support to past and present employees of the insurance industry, and their dependent relatives.
We can help anyone who has relevant experience working in the insurance industry, in any role in the UK and Ireland, and who may now be facing hardship.
Established over 100 years ago we have helped many thousands of people in an extraordinary variety of way, from helping people hit by natural disasters such as floods; to helping fund essential surgery for children; assisting individuals facing debt through a change in circumstances; helping families facing severe illnesses; paying for essential home alterations and supporting people over the years who need help and on-going assistance.
Expert advice can help people find the right support and direct financial assistance is provided to meet a wide range of needs.
We welcome direct enquiries or applications via a third party such as a company's welfare department or other charitable organisation.
We rely on donations and fundraising from Individuals, Local Institutes and Insurance Companies and Intermediaries.
The Insurance Charities awareness week 2017 - Why not get involved?
Last year The Insurance Charities reached over 30,000 insurance employees in the UK and Ireland during their Insurance Charities Awareness Week. They sent display boxes to 225 offices in the UK and Ireland, filled with branded items for staff to take to increase awareness of the charity and reach those who may be in need of their help.
This year they are aiming to reach even more insurance employees. It’s very simple to get involved and there is no cost involved, all they ask is that you display the box in a communal area so as many employees as possible are able to see it and take the items. This year the display box includes chocolates, mobile phone/table stands, post-it note booklets and flyers that can be transformed into a business card and bookmark.
You may be surprised at the type and level of help The Insurance Charities provide. They’ve funded pioneering surgery to help children to walk, adaptations to homes and essential household items such as fridges and cookers. Last year they gave out over £1.2 million of help to UK and Irish insurance employees and their families, this figure is increasing year-on-year.
The level of help they give varies from case to case but what unites them all is the insurance industry. Whatever your role is, as long as you have worked for an insurance employer and have limited financial resources you may qualify for help from the charity.
Many people who approach The Insurance Charities never thought they would need help from a charity, but life is not predictable and many unexpected things can happen that can change someone’s life overnight. The charity are here to help and support you through these unexpected events.
