Fight the FOMO - Five reasons to join the MGAA annual conference
Authored by Michael Keating, CEO, MGAA
The much-anticipated MGAA annual conference and exhibition is now just days away (15th September) and for many of us, it will be the first in-person event in well over eighteen months. To say I’m excited is an understatement.
Bringing together over 500 delegates (and counting) alongside eighty exhibitors, and with a full programme of keynotes, panel sessions and workshops, MGAA2021 will mark a triumphant return to the buzz of face-to-face market events.
But if you’re still hovering over that “registration” button, here are the 5 BIG reasons you need to come along on 15th September:
1. Network, network, network
This is the best networking opportunity in the MGA market, a chance to develop new business partnerships and strengthen existing relationships, to reacquaint yourself with colleagues without worrying about ‘being on mute’ or your cat wandering across your lap.
2. Industry experts, relevant topics
Starting with a keynote from Aston Lark CEO, Peter Blanc, we have a full programme of MGA relevant and business-focused panel discussions led by industry leaders. They will look at the current landscape and anticipate future developments.
This year we’re also excited to introduce our new ‘head-to-head’ session, this presidential-style debate pits representatives from an insurer, broker and MGA against one another to debate the topic – commission vs. fees.
3. Supplier demand
Our MGAA supplier members continue to successfully evolve, centring their propositions around the MGA community to help drive it forward with innovative solution. This is your chance to meet and greet these valuable members and understand how they can help to propel your business forward and meet the changing demands of the market.
4. Be inspired
Our mystery guest speaker has a truly incredible tale to tell, and we know you will come away inspired at a story of overcoming huge challenge. Prepare to be moved as they share their experiences.
And finally;
5. Have fun!
Dust off your suits and smart work clothes, check they still fit (erm…) and come and have some fun with the wider MGA community!
As well as networking opportunities throughout, we end the day with the presentation of our inaugural MGAA awards and a drinks reception – this is your chance to celebrate the successes of those in our community who strive to develop the MGA market. I’ll drink to that!
About MGAA
The Managing General Agents' Association is a not-for-profit trade association representing true MGAs. Our aim is to represent and support the UK MGA market. We work within the professional framework of the Chartered Insurance Institute and our members sign the MGAA Code of ethics.
Managing General Agents (MGAs) are an important, established and fast-growing sector of the UK insurance industry.

MGAs deserve specific representation to lobby on their behalf, communicate their considerable benefits and drive best practice.
The Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) was formed in 2011 to fulfil this role.
The total number of full MGA members now stands at 101, which collectively represent over £3.5bn of underwriting capacity.
