Background

The 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) begins in Glasgow this week. The summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The insurance industry’s profile at COP26 is expected to be significantly higher than at previous UN climate talks, as finance increasingly takes centre stage in discussions.

This virtual event will look at the key takeaways from COP26, and discuss what the risk industry can do in order to rise to the challenge of climate change. What are the opportunities that could be presented?

QBE will be joined by Trevor Williams, former Lloyds bank Chief Economist who specialises in first principles and practical behaviourally driven analysis backed by economic theory. During his time at Lloyds, Trevor established a highly-regarded, award-winning team of economists analysing global and domestic data to support clients ranging from large financial institutions to SMEs with bespoke insight.
