Five things FloodFlash learnt at BIBA 2022

BIBA-2022

Authored by FloodFlash

This time last month, the FloodFlash Broker Success Team made their way to Manchester for BIBA 2022. Excluding Brent and Ola, FloodFlash veterans, it was everyone’s (including this author’s) first BIBA. Safe to say it lived up to the hype. We caught up with old friends, listened to keynote speakers, and came back with a hefty list of new brokers to partner with. Here’s five things we learnt from BIBA 2022.

1. Insurance companies came to impress

From virtual golf and racing, to extravagant designs and neon signs, the stands at BIBA 2022 were designed to wow. Alongside the customary branded water bottles, notepads, and pens, there were also more unique giveaways. Personal favourites include Chaucer’s branded Tony’s Chocolonely and the paper postcards by UK General Insurance’s which grew wildflowers when planted.

Other notable stands included Ardonagh, with its chandelier an excellent, pub-themed meeting point for business meetings, and Allianz, which was made entirely from recycled and recyclable materials.

2. Some think FloodFlash is too good to be true…

Unfortunately, this is one of the most common phrases that new brokers and their clients say to us. At BIBA this year, we still had some brokers saying our product must be ‘too good to be true’. Hopefully we managed to persuade you FloodFlash really is as good as it seems!

3. …But many have nice words to say about us!

Without blowing our trumpet too much, one of the best things about BIBA 2022 was how exciting many in the industry found FloodFlash. No need to hear it from us though – we asked people to describe FloodFlash in few words, and this is what they said:

4. The wellness area was well needed

An in-person BIBA is an exhausting affair! Luckily, the wellness area provided some respite for our legs and our voices. From in person-meditation to massage guns and compression boots, the area was definitely worth a visit. A great addition organised by our own Broker Success Manager Ola.

5. We can’t wait for BIBA 2023

BIBA 2022 was fantastic, especially being back in person after the disruption of the last two years. Nothing beats being able to chat to brokers and others in the industry face to face and with the sensor in hand!

It was great to be back in Manchester for the UK’s largest insurance event. We’ll be back there next year on the 10th and 11th of May 2023 – see you there!

About FloodFlash

FloodFlash is a new type of rapid-payout flood insurance. It uses the latest data modelling and connected tech to bring parametric insurance to the mass market for the first time. The result is fast, easy and flexible cover that pays claims within days of a flood.

FloodFlash is parametric or `event-based` insurance. When buying the cover, the client chooses the depth of flooding they wish to insure against and how much they’d receive when that flood happens. When the FloodFlash sensor installed at the property detects flood water at the selected depth, the claim is paid in full. No waiting. No haggling.

FloodFlash rapid-payouts were put to the test in February 2020 when Storm Ciara swept across the UK. Claims related to the storm were paid in full within a single day. That speed of claims payment remains the fastest and best proof of mass-market parametric insurance to date gaining acclaim at industry awards and recognition from The Times, The Telegraph and the BBC.

FloodFlash operates across Britain, is headquartered in London. Floodflash is a registered coverholder at Lloyd`s of London and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
