3 reasons to work with a local community cause, charity or project you love

Aviva-Community-Fund

Authored by Aviva

You and your team still have time to enter this year’s Aviva Broker Community Fund for the chance to win funding for a local project or cause in your community. What would a share of £300,000 mean to them from the Aviva Community Fund nominated by you?

If your brokerage isn’t currently involved with or supporting a local project or charity cause, now is a great time to start, as local causes need your support more than ever. As well as it making a difference to the cause, here’s three reasons why it’s great for you and your team too:

1)     It helps build strong teams

Raising money, donating your time or completing charity challenge with your work colleagues helps you to build strong relationships with each other. Not only is it fun, but it’s a fantastic way to bring different departments together, and for directors and senior managers to connect and share experiences with their team.

2)     It can raise your business profile and generate new opportunities

Local people are more likely to use local business, by getting out in your community and supporting a local project or charity you’re connecting with a larger network. You can also benefit from fantastic PR by taking the time to connect with local projects and charities in your area.

3)     You can share your skills and pick up new ones

Whether you’re an Excel whizz, a great event planner or even a social media guru, local projects and charities will value your skill set and make the most of them. What’s more, you’ll pick up new skills too working alongside your charity or project.

Once you’ve chosen the local cause or project to support this year, nominate them for the Aviva Community Fund by telling us why you want to support them and what difference an award of £2,500, £5,000, £10,000 or £20,000 would make. Some refurbishments? New equipment or kit? Or maybe they want to expand their services to reach more of your community? Tell us with your entry into the Aviva Broker Community Fund this year.

Entries to this year’s competition close on 24 October. Find out more about this year’s competition online and read the full terms and conditions here
