Water leaks are one of the types of building damage that result in the highest costs. HDI TH!NX, part of the HDI Group and leading player in the development of IIoT-based business models and risk management solutions, has designed Leak360 to automatically identify leaks at an early stage and prevent damage to the building fabric.

Leaks can happen not only due to a damaged pipe and flooding in part of a building; water running through a broken flush system can also cause damage. Public and commercial buildings are particularly at risk. Scenarios involving temporary vacancies, critical availability or an aging building fabric necessitate round-the-clock protection.

Leak360 delivers this effective protection against major water damage. Water, moisture and frost sensors are attached to exposed areas in the structure and water meters are continuously read so as to detect potential damage. The sensors automatically identify abnormal consumption patterns and damp areas and immediately alert previously defined individuals. As a result, damage is detected and stopped early on before it can spread within the structure.

HDI TH!NX currently does not charge for the individual design of a leak protection concept. Customers of HDI Global can access Leak360 worldwide.

Dr Barbara Klimaszewski-Blettner, Managing Director Germany at HDI Global said, "Preventing and mitigating damage is very important to us and our customers. With the aid of innovative solutions, we help to reduce avoidable losses for both existing and new customers worldwide. HDI Global rewards the use of Leak360 as part of the insurance solution, e.g. when it comes to the deductible.”

Focus on user-friendly operation

The sensor solution uses a (LoRaWAN) gateway for communication, transmitting data and signals via mobile telephony to the service centre. This eliminates any need to use an internal customer or company network. Settings for receipt of notifications can be easily adjusted individually using a PC or smartphone, thereby ensuring that the right recipients are alerted without delay in the event of damage. Another benefit: Leak360 does not have any systemic limitations and is suitable for all structure sizes and use cases. The system thus makes a valuable contribution to preventive risk minimisation for companies and public facilities – in both existing building stock and new structures.

Dr Verena Brenner, Managing Director of HDI TH!NX added, “Early discovery of water damage or a leak means less damage to the building fabric, thereby reducing any cost-intensive business interruption necessitated by extensive remediation work. A further consideration is that unnecessary water consumption can be avoided through continuous monitoring and hence a valuable contribution made to sustainable resource management."

Specialist presentations and experience sharing at the 2023 leakage summit (“Leckage-Gipfel”)

On 13 September 2023 HDI TH!NX will join business partners and an expert audience at the leakage summit in Berlin to consider water leaks and unintended water consumption from a range of different perspectives. The main content of the summit will centre around the growing challenges facing industry and insurers, sustainability requirements for corporate financing, sensor-supported solutions as well as the sharing of experiences. At the summit HDI TH!NX will be presenting the advantages offered to users by the modular, user-friendly system Leak360 – including the integrated features for visualisation, analysis and reporting.
