Nottingham-based insurance and financial solutions firm The Wilson Organisation has made four senior appointments in its General Insurance Division.

Neil Tennant and John Procter both join as Account Directors, Fiona Mitchell as Major Client Broker, and Susan Blackley as Major & Commercial Insurance Manager.

The Wilson Organisation is a UK top 100 financial adviser and insurance broker, and provides insurance and financial advice to both businesses and individuals.

The new appointments mark a significant first step in the strategy to ‘build and grow the General Insurance team’ set-out by Mark Minton when he joined Wilsons in the new role of Managing Director of its General Insurance Division in December last year.

Commenting on the new hires, Mark Minton said: “Each of these four new hires brings a senior level of experience and exceptional skill and knowledge of corporate and commercial insurance matters.

“An important element of my role at Wilsons is to develop and implement a growth strategy for the General Insurance Division, leading and driving performance and growth alongside Charlotte Perkins, Annabel Prow and all of Wilsons’ Board.

“The General Insurance division has experienced a sustained period of high demand for its services and this clutch of senior hires is both in response to this and also a  significant step in furthering our ambition for growth and expansion. With these four appointments comes combined high level experience well in excess of 100 years, a considerable addition to the knowledge and expertise of the growing General Insurance team at Wilsons.”

Account Director to Wilsons’ Corporate Clients, Neil Tennant brings 25 years insurance industry experience to the firm. He joins from international broker Willis Limited, where he spent 17 years providing broking and risk management services to a range of multinational clients. He began his career with Royal Insurance, underwriting commercial risks.

John Procter, also Account Director, has 28 years experience in the industry, most recently with International brokers, delivering insurance and risk management solutions to organisations operating in a range of industries. He has extensive experience in the manufacturing sector, particularly the automotive industry, having worked with OEMs and motorsport businesses.

As Major Client Broker at Wilsons, Fiona Mitchell is responsible for the day to day administration of client’s policies. In the insurance industry since 1984, Fiona has held roles at both insurance companies and brokers, including Giles Insurance and Towergate. She has broad experience of all types of commercial insurance and is a motor trade specialist having previously administered the Scottish Motor Trade Scheme for Giles in Glasgow.

Susan Blackley has worked in the insurance industry for 30 years, and joins Wilsons from Towergate in Leicester. As Major & Commercial Insurance Manager at Wilsons, Susan leads a ten-strong team of General Insurance Account Handlers, whilst supporting Mark Minton with the day to day management of the team. Operating at management level for over 20 years, Susan specialises in providing technical and broking advice to commercial businesses of all sizes and across all industries.

The Wilson Organisation is a family-owned business, today in its third generation and led by Annabel Prow and her sister Charlotte Perkins. It provides innovative insurance and financial solutions to businesses and individuals both regionally and nationally. It organises and underwrites the not-for-profit Midlands Family Business Awards that launched in 2010.
