John Moore MBE has been elected as the 120th president of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) at the organisation’s annual general meeting, held in London.

Currently Chairman of Thomas Carroll Group plc, the insurance, financial planning and health & safety company, John was voted in by CII members and succeeds Robert Fletcher, Director at Lloyds Banking Group. Inga Beale CEO of Lloyds of London has been elected new acting deputy.

John joined Thomas Carroll as managing director in 1981 and has seen the group grow from a small office in Cardiff, to offices in Swansea, Pembrokeshire, Hereford and more recently London, in addition to the HQ near Cardiff.

John Moore Said; “Professionalism has always been a priority for me… with integrity, expertise and clients’ interests first.

In year 2000, I was privileged to take the president’s badge for the Cardiff Institute, later serving 10 years on the CII’s UK Broker Faculty Board and now proudly act for our 140,000 members as the national president.

My passion is Chartered status and the ambition is to raise this professional debate with members, brokers, IFAs and corporate insurers…all in the interest of protecting the public.”

After becoming Chairman of Thomas Carroll in 2006, John won the 2010 Achievement Award at the Insurance Age UK Broker Awards.

John was then awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2014, in recognition of his services to the financial services profession and Thomas Carroll’s 25 years of fundraising for Ty Hafan Children's Hospice in Wales.
