Bennett Christmas "insuring" an award-winning future

Rapidly expanding Sussex insurance group Bennett Christmas has made it through to the finals of one of the most prestigious industry awards.

The business, based in Burgess Hill, which celebrates its fifth anniversary with a VIP birthday party next week, has been shortlisted for Regional Broker of the Year in the British Insurance Awards.

It is the second time the Group, which was formed by the merger of Bennett Dawes and Christmas Insurance in 2010, has been given national recognition in the highly competitive insurance market.

In 2013, just three years after joining forces, Bennett Christmas carried off the Insurance Times Award for Independent Regional Broker of the Year.

“It is a tremendous honour finding ourselves in the spotlight for a second time in two years and a testament to all the hard work our fantastic team have put in to making Bennett Christmas the very best in the regional insurance market,” said Chief Executive Mark Bennett.

The company, which employs 32 people at its Sussex HQ, recently announced its ambition to grow the firm to £20million gross written premium (GWP) over the next three years.

It said expansion will be achieved through acquisition and organic growth in its various divisions, including broking, underwriting and a specialist department, BC Schemes, which builds bespoke insurance packages for specific sector needs.

Managing Director of the insurance broking division David Christmas added: “Although we have set ourselves high aims we have never lost sight of where we came from – our values are still rooted, as our fathers’ were, in building personal relationships with clients. We know their business almost as well as we know our own. Increasingly in a world where online services are taking hold, this is what customers tell us they value most – and that’s reflected in the extraordinary growth we’ve seen since the merger in 2010. That really is something to celebrate!”

The British Insurance Awards will be held at the Royal Albert Hall in July. Bennett Christmas will celebrate the fifth anniversary of its merger at a celebration on 21 May.
