Aon strengthens Financial Institutions team with hire of HSBC's Pete Rutherford

Aon plc has named Pete Rutherford as Enterprise Client Leader, Financial Institutions in the UK. He joined the firm on 1 January 2022 and reports to Richard Phelps, Head of Financial institutions, UK and EMEA.

Pete will help build key client relationships for Aon and further strengthen its leading Financial Institutions practice, joining a growing team of senior experts with broad relationships across the sector.

Pete brings 25 years of financial institutions (FI) experience to Aon, with deep sector expertise in banking, asset management, life companies, and insurance. He joins from HSBC, where he served as managing director, head of EMEA insurance, and UK bank coverage, responsible for managing key global clients. Pete began his career at Capital Bank, and he has held several senior positions at Standard Life (now Abrdn), Clydesdale Bank, Albannach Financial Management, and The Royal Bank of Scotland.
