  • About IRM

The Institute of Risk Management (IRM) is the world’s leading enterprise-wide risk education Institute. We are independent, well-respected advocates of the risk profession, owned by practising risk professionals. IRM passionately believes in the importance of risk management and that investment in education and continuing professional development leads to more effective risk management.

We provide qualifications, short courses and events at a range of levels from introductory to expert. IRM supports risk professionals by providing the skills and tools needed to put theory into practice in order to deal with the demands of a constantly changing, sophisticated and challenging business environment. We operate internationally, with members and students in over 90 countries, drawn from a variety of risk-related disciplines and a wide range of industries.

As a not-for-profit organisation, IRM reinvests any surplus from its activities in the development of international qualifications, membership, short courses and events.

The IRM is seeking nominations to its Board of Directors

The Board sets and manages the strategic direction of IRM and has overall responsibility for the management of its finances. Details on the role and responsibilities of directors can be found in IRM's Board Charter.

There are two methods of appointment - elected directors are elected by the members of IRM, technical directors are nominated by the Board, and appointed by the members at the Annual General Meeting. This call for nominations is for two Elected Directors and two Technical Directors.

For further details of what is involved, and how to apply, please see the documents “IRM Elected Director Nominations Announcement” and “IRM Technical Director Nominations Announcement”.

These should be read alongside the “IRM Non-executive Director Person Specification” and the “IRM Technical Director Requirements”. Nominations for Elected Directors will need to use the form “IRM Elected Director Nomination Form”.

Elections are held in accordance with the election procedures agreed by the Board. A copy of these procedures is available here.

Nominations need to be received by 18th May 2018. They can be emailed to or mailed to The Company Secretary, IRM, Sackville House, 143-149 Fenchurch Street, London, United Kingdom.
