CII seeks leaders of the future for its New Generation Programme


The Chartered Insurance Institute is seeking rising stars from across the profession to join its flagship talent programme: the New Generation Group. The 2018/19 class will be made up of 40 promising professionals from claims, underwriting, broking and the London Market. 

This year’s programme will include:

  • An interactive session with key personnel from the Financial Conduct Authority
  • Talks from Members of Parliament and lobbying organisations in the insurance sector, and a tour of the Houses of Parliament
  • Training on subjects such as leadership and handling the media

Each group will also be asked to identify and complete a project or initiative that it believes could make a difference to the insurance profession and present it to the board. Typically taking around six months to complete and involving collaboration amongst group members across the country, these projects are both challenging and rewarding. Previous groups have delivered projects that have challenged the insurance profession on serious issues that impact consumers from claims handling to vulnerable customers and fraud.

The closing date for applications is 10 August 2018. Applicants must be able to prove that they have made significant strides in their professional development, clearly demonstrating a strong contribution to the team or department in which they work. They are likely to hold a minimum qualification of Dip CII level and five to ten years' experience within the General insurance profession and must be members of the CII, and of one of the following four faculties: Insurance Broking, Claims, London Market and Underwriting. Successful candidates must be willing to commit to attend the set development sessions and to dedicate time to the group project.
