RSA has over 300 years’ experience providing peace of mind to individuals and businesses, and we’re always making improvements to cater to their ever-changing needs. Find out more about some of our proudest moments from last year…

Today we published our 2019 financial results. It was a great year for us, but the numbers only tell part of the story!

We’ve been working hard throughout 2019 to support customers and offer services that go the extra mile, so we and they are in an even stronger position for the years to come.

Here’s a peek at some of our proudest moments from the past 12 months…

Doing MORE to get communities back on their feet

We sent our emergency response vehicle to support local communities in their time of need.

We know that flooding can turn lives upside down and, after some downpours in the UK last year, our team were on the scene offering support to local residents in their time of need. We sent our emergency response vehicle to Whaley Bridge, Fishlake and Wainfleet in the UK to provide insurance advice and support in the clean-up where needed. Our teams were pleased to offer a hot drink, somewhere to sit, or a phone charger to anyone who needed it, whether RSA customers or not.

Steering the way to safer driving

We encouraged people to think about safer driving and their ability behind the wheel.

Think you still have what it takes to pass your driving theory test? When Codan published a test for Danish drivers, they found that many of us overestimate our ability. Almost 200,000 have taken Codan’s theory test, but only 3% passed! The campaign sparked a debate around driving safely, encouraging people to think more about their ability behind the wheel.

Doing our bit for communities around the world

Our employees around the world racked up 11,900 volunteering hours!

As a multinational insurer, it is important that we do our bit to help to improve the world around us. Following the launch of our new commercial responsibility strategy, Confident Futures, in 2019, our employees around the world racked up 11,900 volunteering hours helping local causes!

Helping Canadians fight flooding

RSA Canada partnered with WWF-Canada to build nature-based flood defenses.

Unfortunately, changing weather patterns mean Canada is experiencing more flooding, which means damaged homes, businesses and public infrastructure. To support communities in tackling flooding, RSA Canada partnered with WWF-Canada to help them assess how they are vulnerable to flooding and build nature-based defences such as storm-water management ponds and rain gardens.

Helping businesses tackle risk

Our online Risk Management tool helps small businesses identify and manage their risks proactively.

The RSA Commercial team has launched an online Risk Management Consultation tool to help small businesses proactively identify and manage their risks. The tool generates a risk improvement report, giving suggestions on how businesses can better protect their people, premises and profits, and potentially lower their premiums.

Living your pet’s best life

MORE TH>N's online system makes it easy for pet owners to claim for repeat medication.

If your pet has an ongoing medical condition, it should be as simple as possible to claim for repeat medication. Through MORE TH>N’s online system, vets can now submit repeat claims on a pet owners’ behalf. It also pays vets for the treatment, so customers don’t have to worry about fronting the cost. In 2019, over 30,000 claims were submitted through the system, and hopefully even more customers will benefit from it this year!

A swimming success

In 2019 Trygg-Hansa partnered with the Swedish Lifeguard Society to train 24 new swim teachers.

Did you know there are over 97,000 lakes in Sweden? That’s what makes water safety so important to the region. Our colleagues at Trygg-Hansa have partnered with the Swedish Lifeguard Society, training 24 new swim teachers in 2019 to improve water safety and help young people learn how to swim.

Learning on-the-job with apprenticeships

More than 250 employees are on apprenticeship programmes at RSA.

There are now more than 250 RSA employees on apprenticeship programmes in the UK, helping new and existing employees earn while they learn. We plan to double the number of apprentices in the UK by 2022, introducing the programme to new locations across the country!

Rewarding loyal customers

Almost 17,000 customers have signed up to REW>RDS since it launched in 2019.

Through MORE TH>N REW>RDS, loyal customers in the UK can now earn cashback on their everyday spending, helping them cover the cost of renewing their insurance. Almost 17,000 customers have signed up to REW>RDS since it launched in 2019, and some have been able to earn enough cashback to cover the full cost of their insurance premium.
