QBE has appointed Kevin Shallow as Director of Underwriting and Product Head for Marine, subject to regulatory approval.

Kevin is currently a Portfolio Manager within the marine division.  Kevin joined QBE in 2005 and has over 16 years’ experience in the industry, including time spent in Singapore developing QBE’s Asian marine business.  Kevin has also been instrumental in recent years in the development of QBE’s portfolio solutions underwriting unit in the London market, driving significant growth.

In his new role, he will focus on further developing QBE’s long-standing marine business including the roll out and expansion of the marine product lines locally into Europe.

He takes over from Tim Pembroke who will be retiring on 31 March after nearly 38 years in the marine insurance industry, including over 24 years with QBE.

Peter Burton, Executive Director, International Markets, QBE European Operations said: “I have no doubt that Kevin will continue to develop and expand on the legacy Tim leaves as a leading Marine operation in the international marketplace and the continued expansion of the Marine product into our European business. Kevin brings a diversity of insurance and marine experience to this role meaning he is well suited to lead the next phase of our marine portfolio’s development.

I thank Tim for his important contributions to QBE over his long and distinguished career and wish him all the best in his retirement.”
