Premium Credit has chosen Insurance United Against Dementia as its national charity partner helping people living with dementia. As well as an initial corporate donation to offer immediate support during these difficult times staff will also contribute to the campaign through ongoing fundraising, creating awareness and volunteering to assist those affected by the condition.

Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) is an Alzheimer’s Society movement created and championed by leaders from across the insurance sector. The campaign aims to raise £10 million to fund vital research to fight the 21st century’s biggest killer galvanising the industry to take action against the condition that is having such a destructive impact on society and costing the UK economy over £26 billion every year.

Alice Hardy, Head of Development, Alzheimer’s Society commented: “We are thrilled Premium Credit has joined the Insurance United Against Dementia campaign and we look forward to working with them to help raise vital funds for dementia research.”

Tara Waite, Premium Credit’s CEO added: “We’re delighted to be able to support IUAD, this will be a long term commitment. It’s a campaign that’s going to make a real difference – together with our colleagues we’re determined to help beat this devastating illness.  Waite added:  “Despite the restrictions on staging fundraising events in person during the coronavirus outbreak our team is looking at creative ways to support fundraising online.”

With regards to the pandemic, IUAD has launched an emergency fundraising appeal to help mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on people affected by dementia.

Over 700,000 people with dementia have been asked to isolate themselves for 12 weeks in response to the virus. Alzheimer’s Society has reported that social isolation is a significant threat to these individuals, separating them from their loved ones at a time when they most desperately need their support. The Society states that isolation can and will accelerate some people’s decline irreversibly. Without day to day contact, the effects of dementia will be greatly exacerbated and leave people even more vulnerable.

Monies raised from the emergency appeal will help provide access to trained dementia advisers and other support options for those needing help. If you would like to make a donation or learn more about Insurance United Against Dementia please visit the dedicated IUAD company page on LinkedIn.
