NMU makes double underwriting appointment
NMU have boosted their team with a double underwriting appointment in Darren Pugh and Lance Carter.
Darren Pugh (Engineering)
Darren has been in the Engineering Insurance industry over 20 years, starting his career in 1996, as an Underwriter in Leeds with Scottish Boiler, progressing to Lead Engineering Underwriter focussing on new and existing business
He later joined the development team of Allianz in 2004, before moving to Manchester a year later to take up the position of Underwriter within the existing business team and was promoted to Senior Underwriter in 2010. Darren specialises in all areas of engineering insurance but more recently focussed on construction – Contractors’ All Risks, Erection All Risk, Contractors’ Plant and Machinery Movement.
Darren said “I’m looking forward to this exciting new challenge, particularly working with new colleagues and providing brokers with the seamless personal service and tailored solutions that NMU is so well known for in the market.”
Lance Carter (Cargo & Freight)
Whilst specialising in Cargo and Freight Liability for the last 16 years, Lance has worked in the insurance industry for 28 years.
He started his cargo career at CNA, joining Zurich four years later to help to create their new Cargo division, ultimately becoming a Senior Underwriter. In 2016 he moved to Fiducia, where he’s remained until now.
Additionally, Lance completed the CII advanced Diploma (ACII) in 2013 and is a former chair of the Leeds Marine Insurance Association.
Lance added “I’m thrilled to be joining NMU, a company with a great reputation in the industry with brokers and clients alike, working alongside a multitude of skilled and respected colleagues. I’m particularly looking forward to specialising in cargo and freight liability risks again.”
