NIG first to market with launch of apprenticeship scheme for insurance brokers
NIG is proud to announce First Forward, an apprenticeship based training programme for brokerages, tailored to brokers’ requirements for staff training and development.
NIG has worked with industry experts to design a programme offering apprenticeship level 4 training, CII DIP qualifications; skills-based training, mentoring and industry exposure for brokerage staff.
NIG, a subsidiary of Direct Line Group, is the first insurer to launch an apprenticeship based training programme for broker partners since government policy around apprenticeships changed in August 2018.
10 individuals from NIG’s top 50 independent brokers have been selected and will join NIG executives and their brokerage sponsors at the launch event in London on Friday 23rd November 2018.
First Forward Summary
First Forward will support insurance brokers to deliver against the needs of their most talented individuals. Successful applicants will benefit from a tailored development programme allowing them to train whilst delivering their work commitments.
NIG have developed the two-year apprenticeship programme with Wiser Academy, an expert training provider in the insurance industry. First Forward complements NIG’s existing training support packages which are available to brokers with access to the First Academy – offering training in Cert CII, products and leadership skills.
Who is the programme open to?
- NIG’s First Forward programme is open to those independent brokers that fall within the NIG First broker category.
- Places on the programme are available where both the broker and candidate meet the specified criteria.
Launch event and timescales
First Forward will run over the next two years and the official launch event is on Friday 23rd November at the House of Commons. At the event, the apprentices and their brokerage sponsors will hear from the NIG Executive and Wiser Academy about what to expect from the programme.
