DCL invests in commercial motor fleet market as others depart

With RSA becoming the latest insurance carrier to leave the single vehicle commercial motor market Direct Commercial (DCL) has renewed its commitment to supporting the broker community.

DCL has invested heavily in the sector via the broker only channel and in light of recent developments is very keen to engage with agents both new and existing.

Michael Dickinson, Head of Schemes at DCL says “We have been very excited for the launch of our new Haul-in-One online portal in May. Since we went live, we have provided access to over 900 separate brokers who have been obtaining quotes for both single vehicle policies and those with multiple vehicles up to a total of 10. The new system has been brought to market with a focus on allowing our broker partners to obtain quotes in as short a time as possible. We have specifically aimed to target and eradicate those superfluous questions that have come to make obtaining quotes online a much slower and more cumbersome process than it should be.”

Haul-in-One is a commercial motor insurance provider specialising in Courier & Haulage risks whilst also quoting for the following trades:

  • Furniture Removals
  • Service Providers (excl. Scrap Metal)
  • Waste & Recycling
  • Car Transporters
  • Tippers
  • Tankers

With the system providing quotes for a wealth of vehicle types with GVW up to and including 44t, Haul-in-One is one of the most flexible products for NCB-rated risks on the market.

Michael Dickinson concluded, “We have seen our competitors dramatically alter their stance towards this type of business over the past few years. Whilst many have reduced their appetite or withdrawn entirely, our approach to underwriting sustainably for the benefit of our policyholders and brokers has allowed us to remain in a very strong position despite the significant external pressures that we all face”.
