UK heatwave - Clashes with parents and schools over uniform
The UK is currently experiencing a heatwave. While most of us are enjoying the sunshine in our summer clothes, school children are being asked to stick rigidly to the rules when it comes to their uniforms. In Wales a schoolboy was sent home for wearing shorts and later returned wearing a skirt, while in Leek a child was put in isolation for wearing shorts.
The matter of uniforms has angered parents across the country who believe their children should be allowed to wear cooler clothes during periods of hot weather. But where does the law stand when it comes to uniforms and what can parents do if they disagree with school rules?
