Want to join the fight for a greener future? How AXA Commercial is helping brokers address the climate change issue
Authored by AXA
The AXA Future Risks Report 2022 highlighted that climate change is now the number one concern for experts around the world. To help brokers and clients make more informed choices around addressing climate change, AXA Commercial is offering free access to its innovative AXA Climate School.
Created by AXA Climate in France, the school is a unique online learning experience which explains climate change, biodiversity loss and the overexploitation of natural resources, and the actions that can be taken to reduce the impact.
Last year it was rolled out as mandatory training for all AXA’s 140,000 employees across the globe.
All the information in the AXA Climate School is presented in bite-size chunks and complex scientific issues are explained in simple terms, with modules split into two main streams:
- Understand – explaining the science behind the issues and the threats they create
- Act – outlining changes that can be made at a company and individual level
While the AXA Climate School is normally sold to major international businesses to train their own employees, the resources are being offered completely free of charge for AXA brokers and their clients.
There will initially be four core modules available - the great climate system, the overexploitation of natural resources, acting on your company’s carbon footprint and acting on your own footprint.
The sections in each module are just five minutes long and feature a mixture of videos, interesting facts and questions. For example, did you know…
- The earth has warmed by one degree in the past 100 years, yet prior to that it took thousands of years to raise the temperature by five degrees
- Just a one-degree rise in the earth’s temperature is enough to cause a significant increase in extreme weather conditions such as floods, droughts and hurricanes
The AXA Climate School offer is an extension to the wide range of online and experiential training and development resources AXA Commercial provides to help strengthen trading relationships.
Dougie Barnett, Director of Mid-Market and Customer Risk Management at AXA Commercial, said:
“The AXA Climate School has been used globally to spotlight issues surrounding climate change including biodiversity collapse and natural resource depletion. It brings these issues to life at a local level and helps us to understand the impact on our own environment and the small changes we can all make.
“This unique learning experience created by AXA Climate offers a fantastic opportunity for us to share knowledge around climate risks and highlight the actions that can be taken to tackle this issue. We’re delighted to be able to offer it to our brokers and their clients to help them better understand the issues and make more informed decisions.
“We encourage all of our brokers to register and take advantage of the tools and guides provided to help build a sustainable future for us all.”
