AXA warns 1 in 4 'accidental landlords' are not adequately covered

Research carried out by AXA Business Insurance reveals that 25% of landlords have either no or the wrong type of insurance policy in place.

Data also concluded that many of the policies purchased were for regular cover and not a commerical business policy.

MD of AXA Business Insurance, Daniel Samson, urged insurers to ensure that the appropriate questions were asked when landlords are buying this type of policy as insuring a property rented by a tenant was an entirely different proposition than insuring your own home.
