AXA UK has announced the appointment of Karl Parr as Claims Technical Director effective from 25th March 2019.
Karl joins AXA UK from Ageas UK where he has worked for the last six years as Head of Claims Technical Excellence. Reporting to Waseem Malik, Executive Managing Director (Claims), Parr will be responsible for overseeing Technical Strategy, Best Practice, Training, Legal Services Unit and Large Loss. A Chartered Insurer, Karl started his career in 1985 at AXA, where he served as Section Leader, Claims Controller, Commercial Claims Unit Manager and Senior Claims Inspector. In 1999, he moved to Groupama as Claims Controller, making his way up to Head of Large and Complex Loss Claims. In his most recent position at Ageas, he played a leading role in quality assurance, fraud control and business process review, among other areas.
Karl’s appointment comes as part of the creation of four Centres of Excellence to provide support to front end customer activity in order to focus on creating and maintaining the best possible customer experience. He will be joined by Waqar Ahmed, Rhys Moore and Nick Smith who will lead on Claims Operations, Claims Risk and Fraud, and Claims Transformation respectively. Additionally, Customer and Technical Claims will come back together to create two customer facing operational areas of business: one focusing on Motor and Travel Claims led by John Dacey, and one on Property and Casualty Claims led by Martin Ashfield.
