AXA CFO reveals company’s 2018 Women in Finance Charter results

  • Aelie Breitburd highlights AXA’s Women in Finance Charter results following appearance at HM Treasury’s panel discussion in Londonm
  • Total female senior managers at AXA increased from 30% to 32% between 2017 and 2018
  • The company is also on track for its target of 40% of senior management roles to be held by women by December 2020, with a tolerance of 10%

AXA UK & Ireland’s Chief Financial Officer, Amelie Breitburd, has highlighted the company’s 2018 achievements as part of the Women in Finance Charter after featuring on a panel at HM Treasury’s annual review earlier this month.

During the panel event held at the Guildhall in London by New Financial and HM Treasury, it was noted that 87% of signatories of the Women in Finance Charter, which AXA is a part of, have met or are on track to meet their targets for female representation in senior management.

AXA’s figures show that despite a small growth in its gender pay gap last year, the company increased its female senior managers from 30% in 2017 to 32% in 2018. It is also on target to achieve 40% of senior management roles to be held by women by December 2020, with a tolerance of 10% (36% minimum).

As an Accountable Executive for the Women in Finance Charter, during the event Breitburd discussed the importance of female representation alongside Bernard Charles from Handelsbanken, Alison Jefferis from Colombia Threadneedle and Tim Hinton from Santander.

In a subsequent blog, Breitburd also discussed the importance of the company’s Diversity & Inclusion board, in particular the work carried out by the Gender Equality ERG made up of volunteers across AXA. This includes setting up events such as speed mentoring, networking events and talks from senior stakeholders.

Other achievements from AXA’s 2018 Women in Finance Charter submission include:

  • As of March 1st, 2019, AXA has 156 staff in its senior management population, of which 51 are women (32.7%).
  • AXA currently has 302 females in leader or executive roles (38.7%) and 588 women in leader or senior professional roles (43.5%), indicating a strong pipeline.
  • The AXA UK Management Committee now has 4 female members out of a total of 9 (44.4%). 
  • The AXA UK Board now has 3 female board members out of a total of 9 (33.3%).
