Gator Bikesure launch new high end brand ‘Sundays Cycle Insurance’
Gator Bikesure has launched its own direct-to-consumer brand, Sundays Cycle Insurance, to capitalise on the rapid growth of cycling in the UK and the increase in value of bikes being bought by cyclists.
Sundays Cycle Insurance is a high-end brand aimed at A/B demographic cyclists and commuters whose bikes are worth over £1,500 each. It uses the technical cycling knowledge of its insurance team, who are dedicated cyclists, to resolve difficult claims quickly, efficiently and with empathy.
The Sundays brand complements the other activity of Gator Bikesure - who are an appointed representative of Correlation Risk Partners – in supporting affinity brands to distribute insurance products to enthusiasts.
With Sundays, Gator Bikesure are bridging the gap in the market for a high-end insurance brand aimed at cyclists who appreciate a bespoke, ‘hands-on’ service from real cyclists. They focus on the independent bike retailer space rather than corporates, working with them from both a claims and a sales perspective.
Sundays is being launched via a strategic, brand awareness partnership with Immediate Media’s cycling titles, CyclingPlus and ProCycling. Sponsoring the prestigious annual Bike of the Year competition, Sundays is giving readers the opportunity to win the Bike of the Year and insurance for the bike.
Arthur Goldberg, Managing Director of Gator Bikesure, said: “Cycling popularity is at an all-time high in the UK and, according to the latest Mintel report; more people are buying more expensive bikes and being injured as a result of accidents. This indicated that there is a need for a higher end product to serve the enthusiast market.
“We also noted that most products don’t really provide the market with what they need, so we’re filling that gap.”
Sundays has a range of policies with benefits that few other insurers in the UK currently offer, such as £300 worth of private emergency medical and dental treatment, the use of any taxi firm to get cyclists home after an accident or a serious mechanical breakdown and crucially, the opportunity to have their bike(s) repaired at any independent bike shop.
“We launched with a philosophy of fostering road safety awareness and providing the industry with a premium branded bike product. We’re coming to market from a consumer perspective, as we are all serious cyclists, and also partnering with IBikeRight to send packs to independent bike retailers to get them to support the product,” added Goldberg.
“We understand this market well both from a personal and professional perspective, as we’ve been involved with bike shops and bike insurance for the last 15 years.”
Sundays offers three levels of cover: Sundays Enthusiast Cover – the full package; Sundays Commuter Cover – covering all the fundamentals; and Sundays Liability Only Cover – making sure that public liability is protected.
