Gallagher, has agreed a partnership with the Institute of Government and Public Policy (IGPP).

The partnership will see Gallagher informing and influencing key debates and decision-making in public policy development.

IGPP is a new organisation set up to influence public policy development by facilitating engagement and interaction between the public and private sectors.

It is responsible for producing and providing research, reports, events and public policy briefings to help inform, influence, impact and educate across key topical issues currently facing the UK.

By working in partnership, IGPP and Gallagher can facilitate the sharing of specialist knowledge between the public and private sectors and Government departments to influence and inform policy across the public sector and ensure risk and insurance is considered effectively.  Both can be used as levers to help the smooth running of public organisations either through the transferring of risk or by considering alternative options to traditional insurance programmes. These are often considered too late in the process and become barriers. By bringing these to the forefront of the debate they can be considered earlier and instead become enablers.

The partnership additionally sees Tim Devine, Managing Director of Gallagher’s public sector & education practice become a member of the IGPP Corporate Advisory Board, demonstrating Gallagher’s commitment to improving how Government is run and public policy is developed. Through membership of the Board, Gallagher will have increased participation in public policy debate, knowledge-sharing briefings and discussion opportunities with key audiences.

Tim Devine, Managing Director of Gallagher’s public sector & education practice, said “As a key supplier of risk and insurance solutions to the public sector, Gallagher is delighted to support the IGPP. The IGPP seeks to drive communication, collaboration and connectivity between the public and private sectors. Working with a group of like-minded professionals across the UK will enable us to share thought leadership and specialist expertise to help guide and influence future public policy.”

Marc Davis, CEO of IGPP, added: “We are both delighted and fortunate to have Gallagher on board as a key partner. We look forward to working with a company of its calibre, innovation and tenacity to inform public policy debate and ultimately influence Government decision making. Its culture based on strong values, collaboration and professional excellence is one that we share, as is their strong commitment to being an ethical company.”
