Arthur J. Gallagher has further underlined its commitment to the automotive sector by entering into an exclusive agreement to provide insurance services for members of the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI), the UK’s leading automotive trade body.
Gallagher has been appointed as the RMI’s insurance broker to provide insurance services and advise on the most appropriate risk management and risk transfer solutions to meet the diverse needs of its members.
Founded in 1913, the RMI has been the voice of retail motor businesses — large and small — since the industry’s very inception. By lobbying on behalf of the automotive industry, providing technical expertise and offering advice and support, the RMI is focused on making sure both consumers and the sector benefit from the highest standards of industry operation.
As the RMI’s nominated insurance broker, Gallagher will work closely and collaboratively with the trade body and its approved motor trade insurer Allianz, combining their technical, industry and market expertise to ensure insurance propositions evolve to both protect and facilitate the growth of the UK’s automotive sector. Gallagher will also support members in securing markets for non-standard, hard-to-place risks that require highly tailored underwriting solutions.
Leon Bosch, Managing Director of UK Automotive at Arthur J. Gallagher, commented: “We’re proud to be working with the RMI, sharing as we do a common objective: to use our expertise to support the UK’s diverse automotive industry with the advice, skills and protection needed to run and grow their businesses successfully. With profitability under pressure, uncertainty over Brexit and other challenges, coupled with exciting and emerging technologies and opportunities, the automotive industry can’t afford to stand still, but nor will we.”
Stuart James, RMI Director, said: “When we were looking for a new insurance broker for our members, Gallagher’s enthusiasm, innovation and knowledge of the automotive sector spoke for themselves. We look forward to working closely with the Gallagher team, just as we do with Allianz, to ensure our members benefit from a genuine tripartite approach to best meet and respond to their individual risk and insurance needs.”
Allianz’s Motor Trade Underwriting Account Manager, Mark Ashwood, added: “Collaboration is really important in our industry so it’s great to have Gallagher on board as broker. They will further enhance the risk management support provided to RMI members and we look forward to combining our expertise to address the industry’s evolving needs.”
Gallagher’s Automotive practice specialises in tailored solutions for the full breadth of the sector, spanning seven core customer segments — main multi-franchised dealerships; non-franchised dealerships; accident repairs/body repairers; MOT stations; mechanical servicing and repairs; SMART repairers; and tyre and exhaust fitment centres.
