James Dalton

James is an Assistant Director and Head of Motor and Liability Insurance in the policy directorate. James leads the ABI’s work on improving the personal injury compensation system; tackling uninsured driving; and addressing and improving road safety, especially for young drivers. James also has responsibility at the ABI for the establishment of the Employer’s Liability Tracing Office (ELTO), and improving the compensation process for those with occupational diseases. Prior to joining the ABI, James was a Senior Adviser at the New Zealand Ministry of Economic Development where he coordinated a review of New Zealand’s standards and conformance infrastructure, undertook international trade negotiations, and acted as Private Secretary to the New Zealand Minister of Commerce.
