Ageas welcomes Government’s announcement on road safety

Ageas-welcomes-UK-Government's-road-safety-plans

Andy Watson, CEO Ageas UK said:

“I welcome the Government’s announcement today about the allocation of the £100m funding for the Safer Road Fund to improve the 50 most dangerous ‘A’ roads in England. These roads pose an unacceptable risk to their users.

“Ageas has supported the work of the Road Safety Foundation since 2012 to measure, map and track the safety performance of Britain’s main roads annually, which last year included the launch of a new road crash index to enable people to interact with the data in their regions http://www.roadcrashindex.org/.

“Our work to annually map the economic cost of serious road crashes revealed that the annual cost to the economy is estimated to be £35bn and that’s not counting the personal cost, suffering and distress that we help our customers deal with every day.

“Today’s announcement by Jesse Norman (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport) is a positive step towards our ongoing work with the Road Safety Foundation to achieve zero deaths on our roads.”
