Apprenticeships in the insurance and financial services industries have been given a major boost this week with news of a new training provider which is set to teach hundreds of people every year.

Wiser Academy’s ambitious plans to raise professional standards within the insurance industry have been rewarded with it becoming government accredited to offer apprenticeships to the industry.

Wiser Academy has already trained more than 500 people from other insurers and brokers in professional qualifications in the last four years through its fast track route to professional qualification.

It is now set to sign up its first apprentice trainee this summer and says it is poised to accommodate the growing number of people looking to become an apprentice.

Crescens George, Wiser Academy’s chief operating officer said the company is set to sign up 500 apprentices working for insurance and financial services companies in the next six months and said the Wiser Academy has the capacity to expand further to meet demand.

“We are delighted to have received government accreditation for the Wiser Academy following a rigorous assessment process,” said Crescens. “Our professional training qualifications have been a great foundation for growth and by receiving accreditation for our apprenticeship training we can offer companies an even wider training provision.”

He said the accreditation cements Wiser Academy’s position as a leading provider of training within the insurance and the wider financial services sector.

“We have always been committed to driving up training standards in the whole industry and this new accreditation will ensure high quality training at all levels which is currently open to all levy paying companies.”

Wiser Academy’s first apprenticeships will be in insurance and customer services for the financial services sector. “Initially we will be focussing on customer facing roles with plans to introduce apprenticeships in management and leadership towards the end of this year,’’ said Kelly Scanlan – head of apprenticeships delivery.

Training modules will be tailor made for companies and Wiser Academy can also guide companies through the apprenticeship funding and recruitment process.
