The success of Gauntlet’s appointed representative model

An Appointed Representative of Gauntlet Group, who started her business in December 2013, has made such a success of it that the business is now employing a team of experts.

Sheffield-based Colleen Lindsell started her own company, trading as Gauntlet Healthcare, after an eight-year career in the insurance sector and, specifically, the private medical insurance market.  Her Sheffield-based business, which handles healthcare insurance needs for private and corporate clients nationwide, is booming, thanks to finding customers the best policies for their needs and setting up corporate schemes that suit employees requirements.

Colleen started her career in insurance in 2005, at Rockpool Marketing, where she handled lead generation for clients such as Zurich and Hiscox.  She was then promoted, to work closely with BIBA, assisting with enrolment to its broker assessment programme and recruiting around ten members a week, which gave her a great understanding of broker needs.

In 2010, she started her own lead generation business, Redboxx Ltd, which saw her making appointments for insurance brokers who were seeking commercial renewals.  This led her to WPA, where she made appointments for all the appointed representatives, focusing solely on PMI.

After three years, she went back into the world of employment, working for an insurance broker specialising in PRU Health and Aviva private medical insurance.  This provided her with more insights on the world of PMI and became the basis for her starting her own business with the help and back-up of Gauntlet Group.

With Gauntlet’s claims, marketing and IT support, Colleen has been able to take Gauntlet Healthcare forward, expanding and recruiting insurance professionals who can assist with the growth of the business.

Pat Ball, is one new face to have joined Colleen’s team.  He is in his third year of working in the world of health insurance and has an impressive sales record.  Whilst working at Vodafone, he won the best young salesman award – something which made him aspire to run his own business one day.

The second professional to join Gauntlet Healthcare Ltd is Thomas Cockshutt.  He has CeMap 1, 2 an 3 qualifications and ten years experience in finance.  He has worked in private medical insurance for the past three years.

All of this adds up to a story of success for Colleen, who is ready to start looking at offering international healthcare policies, as her next step.  She is a member of the Institute of Entrepreneurs and Enterprise and equipped with the skills to mentor and guide businesses, which is a useful skill for her to possess, now she has the Gauntlet Healthcare opportunity.

She says: “I am delighted that I took the decision to become an Appointed Representative, as it provides me with the support I need to grow my business.  It means that I can leave matters other than sales and customer care to the Gauntlet head office team, which enables me to focus on what I am best at – attracting and retaining customers.

“With the arrival of Pat and Thomas, we are building a dynamic team here, which is based in Sheffield, but focused on customers and companies across Britain, who want the best healthcare policies for their individual needs and corporate situations.”
