Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation - first event

The London Division of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) held its first event - ‘Connected Leadership Forum’ - for women in the insurance sector this week.

The inaugural event held at the London offices of the event’s sponsor, Mayer Brown, reflects the Foundation’s focus on diversity and leadership and builds on the success of IICF’s Women in Insurance Global Conference, held in New York City in June last year.

Approximately 100 representatives across the insurance industry attended the event, which offered women - and men alike - an opportunity to gain new insights into becoming - and being - a connected leader in today’s changing business environment and to create new connections.

The three speakers, Barbara Schönhofer, Nia Joynson-Romanzina and Dr. Nerina Ramlakhan, shared insights and practical advice on topics of authentic leadership, Performance, Image and Exposure, and leading with energy and resilience.

Proceeds from the event will be granted to Advance, a charity that supports and creates new opportunities for women who have faced domestic violence. Anna Smith, Chief Executive of Advance, presented on the positive impact of the charity’s work for those affected by domestic abuse.

The inaugural event forms part of the IICF’s mission to support community nonprofits that meet local needs through the collaborative efforts of insurance companies, reinsurance companies, employees, agents and brokers, and strategic industry partners.

Wendy Wilder, Executive Director of the London Division, commented: “We were thrilled to see such an excellent turnout at our very first event. Participants expressed genuine interest in the presentations from our speakers and the reception offered everyone a good opportunity to meet new people and share individual experiences.”
