Cooper Gay announces the appointment of Simon Hirst-Marsden as Head of Energy Technical Upstream and Tony Rastall as Divisional Director of Energy specialising in onshore construction risks. Hirst-Marsden and Rastall will report ultimately to Richard Haines who has been appointed as Managing Director of the Energy Division. Richard and Tony take up their roles with immediate effect and Simon is expecting to join in October 2016.
Hirst-Marsden joins from Lloyd & Partners where, as Energy - Claims Executive, Senior Partner, he specialised in the handling of large complex claims particularly in the onshore and offshore energy/power areas. Prior to this he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Marine, Property, Aviation and Transportation (including Energy/Power and Political Risks) Claims for ACE Europe (now Chubb). Hirst-Marsden has also held Claims Manager roles at Marlborough, Aviva and the Lloyd’s Central Claims office. He has previously served on a number of market committees, including chairing the joint Lloyd's and Company market Claims Committee.
Rastall brings nearly four decades of onshore construction and engineering insurance experience to Cooper Gay. He joins from Arthur J Gallagher where he served as a Partner responsible for client development and retention, focusing on the US and Middle East markets. Prior to this Tony spent 19 years at JLT, most recently as a Partner.
Haines previously managed the Onshore Energy Team at NMB (latterly CGNMB). He joined from JLT in 2003 and became a partner in the business in 2009. Haines began his career with Sedgwick Group.
