Capsicum Re Foundation donates £20,000 to Stacey’s Smiles

The Capsicum Re Foundation has donated £20,000 to its first beneficiary charity, Stacey’s Smiles. The Foundation was established earlier this year by the founders of Capsicum Re and will make annual grants to charities chosen by team members, as well as matching any donations that team members raise for individual causes.

CEO Rupert Swallow said: “We established the Capsicum Re Foundation to give the team the opportunity to give something back, both to their own personal causes through matching their own sponsorship efforts and by choosing a small number of causes that we feel we could make a difference to.”

After an initial donation from the founders, Capsicum Re organised its first charitable fund raising event, which took place on 22 June when 25 members of Capsicum Re undertook the “20 in 7” challenge around the Goodwood Estate – walking 20 miles in seven hours. Battling rain, mud and blisters, the team successfully completed the challenge and raised £10,000 in the process, which was matched by joint venture partner Arthur J. Gallagher.

Stacey’s Smiles is a charity devoted to promoting awareness of childhood cancer “neuroblastoma” by creating fantastic special memories for neuroblastoma families. The charity liaises with leading children’s cancer charities such as CLIC Sargent & specialist children’s cancer hospitals such as The Royal Marsden and Great Ormond Street Hospital (“GOSH”) to identify neuroblastoma children and their families.

Rupert Swallow, CEO of Capsicum Re, said: “The “20 in 7” was our first company fundraising event and it was a huge success. Giving back is an important part of our ethos and there is a real energy and passion within Capsicum Re for the Foundation so I am delighted that we managed to raise a huge £10,000 for such a deserving charity. With Arthur J. Gallagher’s generous matching scheme, we have been able to donate £20,000 which we hope will be able to help the charity bring smiles and create special memories to the families it helps.”

Warren Mowle, Founder of Stacey’s Smiles, said: "On behalf of Stacey's Smiles, I wish to thank Capsicum Re and Arthur J. Gallagher for their generous donation. We are indeed grateful for their enthusiastic support, which helps us assist children & families with Neuroblastoma Cancer."
