Bluefin has awarded a new three year contract to General Legal Protection (GLP) who will provide a range of legal expenses insurance and assistance products to the broker’s personal lines clients.
Mike Owen, Head of Bluefin Solutions says: “We have a longstanding relationship with GLP because André and the team consistently deliver a superb range of products that provide enhanced cover for our clients. Their service is simple and straightforward to use, yet they have the in-depth knowledge needed to deal with very specialised areas, including the marine market, which is why we have awarded GLP this new contract.”
Bluefin is one of the UK’s leading insurance brokers with over 1,400 staff in over 40 offices across the UK. The firm provides thousands of clients with guidance on creating the insurance solutions that best protects their assets, revenues, people and lifestyle. GLP has been working with Bluefin for 12 years.
Managing Director of York-headquartered GLP André Scruton says: “We envisage that we will be providing in excess of 30,000 policies to Bluefin’s clients with this new deal offering private car breakdown cover, family legal protection, home emergency and domestic appliance breakdown cover as well as marine legal protection.
“The benefits of our motor breakdown policy include up to four call outs a year. The family legal protection offers a huge range of cover as well as providing discounts on will writing and conveyancing services. All personal injury, including medical malpractice, is included alongside HMRC tax investigations which are on the rise. Criminal proceedings for buying and selling goods is also covered as this area is continually growing due to the vast increase in prosecutions on eBay.
“The home emergency and appliance breakdown offers a wide range of benefits over previous products, as well as significantly enhanced levels of cover and improved terms for write-off settlements, there is also an increase from £200 to £500 in the level of repair costs.
“The marine legal protection has been specifically designed for Bluefin’s Bishop Skinner Marine division and it will appeal to all types of boat owners when they buy hull insurance policies. Benefits include one telephone number for all services and direct access to specialist marine solicitors when making a claim. It also covers identity fraud, emergency travel expenses and emergency towing and mooring fees across extended territories including Australia, Bermuda, Cape Verde Islands, the Caribbean, Hong Kong and New Zealand. Indemnity limits include £150,000 for legal expenses claims, £2,000 for emergency travel and £1,000 for towing and mooring fees.”
