Hampshire students finishing their A Levels this summer can apply now for a debt-free degree which also pays a wage.

The BA Hons Insurance degree is being offered by Be Wiser Insurance and is unique in offering debt-free learning for students.

Initially launched in 2016, this year’s intake will follow the same path with a job at Be Wiser Insurance in Andover and day release to Peter Symonds College.

Be Wiser’s HR director Jo Newman said the scheme is unique and has proved popular with students looking for a career in insurance.

Wages in the first year are £18,000 and once the three-year degree is complete the salary will be up to £28,000.

“We are passionate about training the next generation of insurance professionals and by offering this degree we can attract high quality candidates and in return they will earn while they learn,” said Jo.

The current recruitment process comes as Be Wiser was rated good by Ofsted in its latest report which rated all key areas of work as good.

“We’re delighted to have been rated good for everything from effectiveness of leadership and management to outcomes for learners and quality of teaching, learning and assessment,” added Jo.

Be Wiser has a strong reputation for training its staff and those for other insurance companies and Jo said the degree is a key part of the company’s commitment.

“We are the first financial services company ever to offer a degree programme combined with relevant work experience.”

Recruitment is now open for this year’s intake which has been accredited by the University of Chichester and will be run at Peter Symonds College in Winchester.

The debt-free aspect will see students take out a student loan which will be repaid by Be Wiser on successful completion of the course and final placement within the expanding company.
