Arthur J. Gallagher strengthens Coventry presence

Long-standing local broker Pinnock Bell chooses Gallagher as home for its commercial and personal lines portfolio

Insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher has acquired the renewal rights to the commercial and personal lines portfolio of independent Coventry broker Pinnock Bell. The deal further strengthens Gallagher’s presence in the local business community and will better support customers’ increasingly diverse risk management and insurance needs.

Established in Coventry more than 40 years ago, Pinnock Bell specialises in providing a wide range of general insurance services to SME clients, such as fleet insurance, professional indemnity and property owners as well as the standard commercial property and liability protections that businesses seek.

Founder and director Alastair Pinnock and the team responsible for the book of business will join Gallagher as part of the deal to ensure consistency of service for customers and a seamless transfer of business as it looks to grow under Gallagher’s ownership.

Cheryll Rawbone, Chairman of Arthur J. Gallagher in Coventry, said: “We are delighted to welcome Alastair and his team to the Gallagher family. Their focus on SME clients provides a great complement to our own Enterprise team and various in-house specialisms – serving as we do as a national centre of excellence for the IT, telecoms, life sciences and motor trade industries.

“As a UK community broker, backed by a national network with international reach, we are well-placed to look after everyone from the newest start-ups right through to large multi-nationals. With various multi-million pound developments underway here in Coventry and a general upturn in economic activity, investment and emerging opportunities, it’s important we strengthen our local presence to ensure we’re on hand to devise the right insurance solution for every client - whatever their industry, whatever their risks.”

Alastair Pinnock added: “The financial strength, resources and stability we gain from being part of Gallagher means our customers will reap the benefits of being part of a much larger group, which can pull in specialist teams from specific sectors and access difficult insurance markets as required. We look forward to growing the business from our new home.”

Pinnock Bell also has a financial services business, led by co-founder and Director Peter Bell. This business is not being transferred to Gallagher.
