Arthur J. Gallagher secures deal with London Universities

Arthur J. Gallagher has won a competitive tender to secure a three-year exclusive partnership with the London Universities Purchasing Consortium (“LUPC”) as its insurance broker. The deal sees the successful reappointment of Gallagher’s specialist UK Public Sector & Education practice, following a recent public procurement exercise, having worked with LUPC since 2012.

With over 70 members, the LUPC is one of the largest consortia in the sector. The Gallagher team provides risk management training, support and best practice knowledge to LUPC insurance group members, as well as addressing the key areas of travel risks and other issues that face the education sector, including solutions that respond to risks associated with terrorism, clinical trials, construction and overseas operations.

In October 2015, Gallagher launched TravelCert, its mobile app designed to cut the group travel administration burden faced by large organisations and counter the difficulties faced in providing accurate real-time data to insurers. It was initially developed in response to challenges faced by the LUPC and, since its launch, more than 5000 study, work experience and business trips have been logged using the system. LUPC Insurance Group members played an integral part in the design, development and roll out of this award-nominated app.

Tim Devine, Managing Director of Gallagher’s Public Sector & Education Practice, said: “We are delighted to have retained this prestigious account as it reaffirms our reputation as a leading insurance provider to the higher education sector. This win, along with our TravelCert app, demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the sector and ability to innovate to provide a broad range of insurance solutions that address the global risk needs of our clients. We look forward to continuing our great working relationship with the LUPC team.”

Mike Kilner, Senior Contracts Manager at LUPC, said: “It’s great to extend our partnership with Arthur J. Gallagher, having found an insurance broker and risk management specialist that shares our appetite for collaborative working, generation of best value and solutions-focused services. The development of TravelCert last year — in direct response to the resource-draining challenges our members faced while seeking to meet their duty of care to students and staff — is a good example of Gallagher’s preparedness to design and deliver practical solutions to meet real member need.”
