Apprentices help celebrate Johnston Park McAndrew’s 21st birthday

A Black Country insurance firm which prides itself on giving young people a secure career path is celebrating its own 21st birthday.

Halesowen-based Johnston Park McAndrew is marking its big anniversary by taking on two new apprentices.

The pair, taken on to as part of the insurance company's continued growth, include an IT apprentice as well as an admin apprentice who join the expanding workforce which is now up to 30 employees.

The current apprentices join two other members of staff who started out at the company through successful apprenticeship schemes in recent years. IT apprentice Jake Basterfield, aged 21 from Halesowen, and admin apprentice Lauren Hutchings, 17 from Oldbury, will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Amanda Widnall and James Pearson who, following apprenticeships, have gone on to roles in the wider teams in sales and administration and handling clients' insurance claims.

David Johnston, managing director at Johnston Park McAndrew, said:

"We're all delighted to be celebrating 21 years of business and equally pleased to have celebrated this significant anniversary by continuing our significant investment in the future through our apprenticeship scheme.

"As a proud local firm we are committed to offering young, local people a chance to get on the career ladder and fulfil their potential. We have been delighted with past apprentices and we are confident the young people we have taken on now can start long and successful careers with us."

The company, based at Trinity Point in New Road, Halesowen, offers one and two year apprenticeship schemes and is looking to continue its growth throughout 2016.

Johnston Park McAndrew has a track record of delivering best practice services and accurate advice and puts their client-facing staff through their Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications to maintain the highest standards.
